Horse Experiences
At Pearson’s Farm & Animal Rescue, we offer a range of unique horse experiences designed to suit everyone—from those new to horses, to children wanting their first interaction, through to adults looking to build confidence and gain new skills.
Horse Connection & Mindfulness Walk
Come and meet our gentle horses and enjoy a calming introduction to horse care. You’ll start by grooming and bonding with your horse, then take them for a peaceful walk around our farm or nearby Onkaparinga National Park.
For something truly special, try our mindfulness activity—laying bareback across the horse and matching your breathing to theirs. It’s a quiet, grounding experience where no prior horse knowledge is needed—our guides are there to support you every step of the way.
Walking with a horse is unlike riding. Instead of focusing on control, you can simply be present—observing, breathing, and enjoying the rhythm of nature. Over time, many participants find their horse naturally begins to walk in sync with them, creating a powerful moment of trust and connection.
Important: Closed-toe shoes are required.
Horse Riding Fundamentals
If you’re new to horse riding, our Fundamentals session is the perfect place to start. You’ll begin with a farm safety talk covering how to stay safe around horses, followed by an introduction to horse equipment (tack). You’ll then learn how to hold the reins, steer, and stop—before practising your new skills on horseback.
The full session runs for around 50 minutes, including:
Safety talk and helmet fitting
Groundwork and handling basics
Approximately 10 minutes of guided riding
This safe and supported introduction is designed to build confidence and make your first ride enjoyable.
Requirements: Riders must wear their own shoes or boots with a small heel (hiking boots are not suitable).
Children's Pony & Animal Nursery Experience
This hands-on farm adventure is perfect for children. Instead of riding, kids have the chance to lead one of our gentle ponies under the guidance of our friendly team. They’ll learn how to safely walk with a pony and experience the joy of connecting with an animal as a partner, not just a ride.
Afterwards, children can enjoy our Animal Nursery, where they’ll meet goats, chickens, miniature ponies, and more.
Entry includes one guardian free per child.
Additional fee applies for siblings joining the nursery.
Suitable for ages 18 months to 9 years.
Closed-toe shoes required for children and adults walking with ponies.
