Spring on the Farm – New Life Everywhere

Spring is always a magical time at Pearson’s Farm & Animal Rescue. After the long dry spell, it has been such a joy to see the paddocks turn green again, our rainwater tanks fill to the brim, and the dam glistening with fresh water. The animals are making the most of the lush grass, and the whole farm feels alive with colour and energy. New Arrivals & Babies This season has been especially exciting with the arrival of five Blacknose Valais sheep and nine little lambs at our farm in Myponga. These lambs are already bounding around the paddocks, learning from their mums, and capturing hearts with every step. Our Blacknose Valais sheep have been especially busy this season. Three lambs were born right here on the farm, and two little boys joined us from another breeder to be hand-reared. They’re already showing off their cheeky personalities – running up for cuddles and making everyone laugh with their playful energy. The miniature donkeys have been rolling happily in the fresh grass, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that our sweet girl Ellie may be expecting her own little foal soon. Meanwhile, the kangaroos are enjoying lazy spring days – their biggest task of the day is hopping up to the feed trough before stretching out in the sunshine for a well-earned rest. Reflection From the Heart Spring on the farm is always filled with joy, but this year feels especially hopeful. New life, green paddocks, and the simple pleasure of watching our animals thrive remind us why we do what we do. Each season brings its own rhythm and its own stories, and we feel so lucky to share them with our wonderful community.

New Arrivals! Blacknose Valais Lambs at the Farm

There has been so much excitement at the farm last week – our much-loved Blacknose Valais sheep have welcomed new life into the world. We now have two little boys and one sweet girl, all healthy and happy alongside their mums. Watching these tiny lambs take their first wobbly steps has been such a joy. They’re already full of energy, following their mums around the paddock, and bringing smiles to everyone who visits. It’s a special reminder of why we do what we do here – caring for animals and sharing those moments of wonder with the community. Growing Up With Love For now, the lambs are staying close to their mums, learning, growing, and soaking up all the attention from visitors who are lucky enough to spot them. There’s nothing quite like seeing the bond between ewe and lamb – gentle, nurturing, and so full of love. We also have our two cheeky hand-reared boys, Ralph and Sam. These characters have quickly become everyone’s favourites. Because they’ve been raised with extra human care, they absolutely adore people – they trot straight over for cuddles, scratches, and even enjoy posing for photos. They’re proof of just how affectionate and interactive this breed can be. A Special Time on the Farm Moments like these – new life, growing families, and the laughter of visitors as they meet our animals – are what make the farm feel so special. The Blacknose Valais sheep have such a unique way of connecting with people. Their gentle natures and fluffy faces never fail to brighten someone’s day. These lambs are already part of the farm family, and we can’t wait to watch them grow alongside our other rescue animals. Every season brings new stories here, but spring lambs will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

A Special Visit From Beyond Blindness

Last week we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming a group from Beyond Blindness to Pearson’s Farm & Animal Rescue. From the moment they arrived, the farm was filled with laughter, curiosity, and plenty of gentle animal cuddles. Our team created a warm, inclusive, and tactile experience that allowed everyone to get up close with the animals and feel part of the farm family. It was so rewarding to watch the joy that came from meeting our animals face-to-face – from patting the soft fleece of our lamb Shirley, meeting Bessie the calf, and holding our kangaroo joeys with their velvety fur. There was also lots of interest in our reptiles – feeling the rough texture of a bearded dragon compared to the smoothness of a blue tongue lizard. And of course, nothing was more popular than cuddling the little chicks, rabbits, and guinea pigs. With touch being so important, it was wonderful to see how these animals created such memorable moments for our visitors. An Experience for Everyone  This visit was a wonderful reminder of the power of connection between people and animals. Our staff particularly loved supporting the group, and it was motivating for us to adapt how we normally run tours to make sure everything centred around touch and sensory experiences. It was a joy to see how meaningful this approach was for our visitors. Why It Matters  At Pearson’s Farm, we believe the farm should be a place where everyone feels welcome and included. Visits like this remind us that accessibility isn’t just about opening gates – it’s about creating experiences where every person can truly engage and connect. Animals have a unique way of breaking down barriers, and it was beautiful to see how they reached out to our visitors in their own gentle ways. A Heartfelt Thank You  We’d like to extend a big thank you to Beyond Blindness for visiting us. Your time here was as special for us as it was for you, and we hope the memories of the farm stay with you for a long time to come. We’re already looking forward to welcoming you back again.

Meet Sterling Silver – Our Adorable Highland Calf!

Last week, one of our beautiful Highland girls had her baby, and he is just stunning! He’s a gorgeous silvery-grey colour, so we’ve named him Sterling Silver (but we call him Silver for short).  However, over the weekend, Farmer James found little Silver alone and clearly very weak. His mum sadly wasn’t interested in him and was trying to join another herd. James made the quick decision to bring Silver back to our other farm and start him on bottle feeds. It was a little touch-and-go at first, but thanks to lots of care (and bottles every 2–3 hours!), Silver is getting stronger every day.  We can’t wait to introduce Silver to everyone once he’s big and strong enough — he’s already stolen our hearts, and we know he’ll steal yours too.
