Our immersive 6-week farm-based learning programs are designed to educate, inspire, and foster a meaningful connection between participants, animals, agriculture, and the environment. Delivered in a calm, supportive, and inclusive setting, these programs are suitable for both children and young people with disability as well as typically developing students.
Each session is built around experiential learning, helping participants build confidence, develop new skills, and gain a greater appreciation for nature and sustainable living. Programs can be tailored to individual needs or educational goals.
DURATION: 2 hours per week
GROUP SIZE: Ideal for 6–8 participants
FOCUS Farm and native animal education, safe farm interaction, empathy building, and hands-on experiences.
LOCATION 89 Gosse Road, Clarendon Parking is signposted. Look for the farm entrance sign! Only open by appointment.
WHAT TO BRING: Closed-toe shoes; Weather-appropriate clothing; Hat, sunscreen, water bottle and snack.
WHO YOU WILL MEET
We care for a wide variety of animals, including:
NATIVE WILDLIFE: kangaroos, bettongs, pademelons, gliders, and lizards
FARM ANIMALS: horses, cows, alpacas, goats, sheep, donkeys, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens
COMPANIONS: 5 dogs, a farm cat — all part of the family!
A General Overview Ideal for beginners, this introductory program provides a broad insight into life on the farm. Participants will: Meet and care for a wide range of animals. Help with daily routines such as feeding, mucking out, and animal health checks. Learn basic farm safety and equipment use. This course is perfect for students who are new to agriculture or simply curious about where their food comes from.
NATIVE ANIMALS AND LIZARDS
Australia’s unique wildlife is brought to life in this engaging and interactive program. Participants will: Interact with and learn to care for native animals and reptiles. Explore the importance of biodiversity and habitat protection. Understand the threat of invasive species and what we can do to help. This module supports learning in environmental science and conservation.
ALL THINGS EQUINE
For horse lovers and equine enthusiasts, this handson experience offers: Daily interactions with our horses, donkeys, and miniature ponies Skills in grooming, feeding, saddling, and bridling An introduction to equine care from a professional farrier The chance to ride in our round yard (optional, based on confidence and ability) This program is great for developing responsibility, emotional regulation, and confidence.
GARDENING, CHICKENS & WORMS
This sustainability-focused program digs deep into the natural world. Participants will: Plant, grow, and harvest seasonal produce from our garden beds. Feed and care for chickens, collect eggs, and learn about poultry care. Discover composting, worm farms, and soil health. Perfect for those interested in environmental science, food systems, or healthy living.
OUR OTHER HOOFED FRIENDS
Get up close with our other farmyard favourites – including goats, cows, lambs, and alpacas. Participants will: Learn animal handling techniques and health care basics Participate in feeding routines and enrichment activities Explore practices like drenching, shearing, and caring for poddy (orphaned) animals This module focuses on practical farming skills and animal welfare.
PICK YOUR OWN ACTIVITIES
Our most flexible offering allows students or educators to custom-design a program that aligns with individual interests or curriculum areas. Options include: Native or domestic animal care. Farm-based science and biology topics. Environmental sustainability, bush regeneration, or reforestation. Specific NDIS goals or life skills based goals (e.g., building independence, social interaction, or physical coordination)
* A personalised photo package, emailed directly to the school, featuring each student with their favourite animals. Our friendly Blacknose Valais sheep are always a hit for cuddles!
* A keepsake folder with printed handouts summarising each session — a great tool for classroom discussion, reflection, or simply remembering what they’ve learnt and achieved.
* Take-home recipe sheets to make your own animal enrichment toys and nutritious treats — encouraging ongoing learning and creativity at home or in the classroom.
Pick-up and drop-off transport is available in our 12-seater van, allowing schools with limited transport options to easily access the farm.
